Madhesh Province Raises Vehicle, Entertainment and Property Taxes, Introduces New Fee Structure
Madhesh Province has increased taxes on vehicles, entertainment, and property registration as part of efforts to boost internal revenue, along with introducing new environmental and commercial fee regulations.

Madhesh Province has revised and increased taxes on vehicles, entertainment, and property registration fees as part of its strategy to boost internal revenue collection, according to Finance Minister Yubaraj Bhattarai.
Under the new provision, vehicle owners affected by the Gen Z movement-related damage can apply for registration cancellation until Asar 2083, and will receive a full waiver on vehicle tax for the current fiscal year.
Similarly, community forests must deposit 15 percent of total revenue into the provincial fund when selling timber commercially outside consumer use.
Private timber sales will now require payment of Rs. 5 per cubic foot, while firewood will be charged Rs. 100 per cubic foot to the provincial treasury.
In addition, brick industries will be required to pay an environmental fee of Rs. 75,000 per chimney.
