Mahesh Basnet Vows to Knock Supreme Court Doors Demanding Parliament Restoration
UML leader Mahesh Basnet announced plans to approach the Supreme Court demanding parliament restoration, pledging full support to Gen Z anti-corruption movement.

Nepal Communist Party (UML) Politburo member and former minister Mahesh Basnet has announced that the party will approach the Supreme Court demanding the restoration of parliament. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday at the party headquarters in Chyasal, Basnet said the party is deliberating whether to pursue the case officially or through legal professionals.
Basnet emphasized his full support for the anti-corruption movement led by the Gen Z generation. “We will knock on the Supreme Court doors demanding the restoration of parliament. Whether the party proceeds officially or through legal representatives, the matter is under final discussion. I urge the Gen Z community: their demands against corruption will have our complete backing,” Basnet said.
He further added that impartial investigation committees should also scrutinize those who have entered government under the Gen Z banner to ensure accountability. “If there are doubts about corruption involving any former or current party leaders, including us, we are ready to submit to investigation. But those who exploited the sacrifices of the youth for personal gains must be held accountable,” he asserted.
