Major Boost in Nepal’s IT Infrastructure: Tier 4 Data Center Planned in Chobhar with Google and Global Partnerships

Nepal is experiencing a significant surge in investment in its information technology infrastructure, with growing interest from both domestic and international stakeholders in recent years.

In a major development, Bichutten Data Vault has announced plans to build a Tier 4 hyperscale data center in Nepal. The company aims to position the country as a reliable digital hub in South Asia through this ambitious project.

The data center will be developed across two key locations—Chobhar in Kathmandu and Birgunj. It will initially begin with a 240-kilowatt capacity and is planned to scale up to 5 megawatts by 2030.

According to the company, the Tier 4 facility will ensure 99.995% uptime, making it highly reliable for critical sectors such as banking, telecommunications, and government digital services.

The project involves participation from Nepali entrepreneurs including Naveen Agrawal, Meen Agrawal (Fair Group), Anuj Kiyal (Kiyal Group), Vishal Kumar Jatia, and Sharad Goyal.

Bichutten Data Vault has also established strategic partnerships with global technology leaders such as Google Cloud, AMD, Micron, and VVDN. These collaborations are expected to bring advanced computing, cloud infrastructure, and cutting-edge technologies to Nepal.

The company’s long-term vision includes local data sovereignty, reducing dependence on foreign servers, and strengthening national cybersecurity infrastructure.

Additionally, future plans include exploring the possibility of manufacturing servers, laptops, tablets, and cameras within Nepal, further strengthening the country’s tech ecosystem.

The data center will be fully powered by hydropower energy, making it an environmentally sustainable and energy-efficient initiative.
