Major highways connecting Kathmandu with other parts of Nepal have been disrupted due to floods and landslides following continuous rainfall. Several sections of the Prithvi Highway and BP Highway have been blocked by landslides, leaving public buses stranded in Kathmandu.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, most public vehicles arriving from different parts of the country have been halted at New Bus Park due to the highway disruptions.

Continuous rainfall has been reported in various parts of the country since Thursday. The rising rainfall has also increased water levels in rivers inside the Kathmandu Valley. Traffic police have used public announcements to ask motorists not to stop or park their vehicles along river corridors.

The Pharping route connecting Kathmandu with Hetauda remains operational, allowing smaller vehicles to travel through the route.

Meanwhile, the Tribhuvan Highway (Hetauda–Naubise–Kathmandu), considered an important route connecting Kathmandu with the rest of the country, is operating in one direction. The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office said the route has been kept open one-way to facilitate the transportation of essential supplies into Kathmandu.

Authorities have urged drivers and the general public to remain cautious as forecasts indicate the possibility of further heavy rainfall.
