Mass Dismissal of Political Appointees: 1,594 Officials Removed
The Nepal government has introduced a major administrative reform by removing 1,594 politically appointed officials through a newly issued ordinance.

President Ramchandra Paudel, on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, has issued the “Ordinance on Removal of Public Officials, 2083.”
The government led by Balen Shah stated that the move aims to improve administrative efficiency and strengthen state institutions.
With the implementation of the ordinance, a total of 1,594 politically appointed officials across various sectors will be removed from their positions. The impact will be seen across education, health, infrastructure, finance, communication, agriculture, and social sectors.
Key institutions affected include universities, health councils, financial bodies, regulatory authorities, and public service organizations.
The government has indicated that the process of appointing new officials to these vacant positions will begin soon.
While some view this move as a necessary administrative reform, others have criticized it as political interference.
