Monsoon Remains Active Across Nepal; Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms and Strong Winds Likely in Several Provinces
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said monsoon conditions remain active across eastern and central Nepal, with heavy rainfall.

Monsoon activity continues to influence large parts of Nepal, with the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) forecasting widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across several provinces.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, monsoon winds are currently affecting the entire areas of Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces, parts of Gandaki Province, and eastern areas of Lumbini Province. The remaining regions are under the partial influence of westerly and local winds.
The department expects the monsoon to expand across the remaining parts of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, as well as throughout Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, within the next two to three days.
At present, skies remain generally cloudy across the country. Light to moderate rainfall is occurring in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, and Lumbini provinces, while isolated areas of Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim are also receiving rainfall.
During the daytime, widespread cloud cover is expected nationwide. Many hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki are likely to experience moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Similar weather is expected in parts of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim, while several Terai districts may also witness thunderstorms and moderate rain.
The DHM has also forecast heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Koshi Province, with strong winds likely across parts of the Koshi Terai and Madhesh Province.
Tonight, cloudy conditions are expected to persist across the country. Moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is likely in many hilly and mountainous regions, while heavy to very heavy rainfall is possible in some locations of Koshi Province. Isolated areas of Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki may also receive heavy rainfall.
Residents in areas vulnerable to flooding, landslides, and strong winds have been advised to remain alert and follow weather updates issued by the department.
