Monsoon conditions continue to affect Nepal, with the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) reporting that the monsoon trough remains south of its normal position in eastern Nepal and near its average location in the western region.

Cloudy conditions are prevailing across the country. Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is currently occurring in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in a few hilly areas of Lumbini Province.

For today, the department has forecast generally cloudy weather over most hilly and mountainous regions. The Terai areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces are also expected to remain generally cloudy, while the Terai regions of Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces are likely to experience partly to generally cloudy conditions.

Moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely at several locations in the hilly and mountainous regions. Similar weather is expected in parts of the Terai of Gandaki, Lumbini, Sudurpashchim, Koshi, Bagmati, and a few places in Madhesh Province.

The department has warned of heavy rainfall at one or two locations in the hilly and Terai areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces, urging residents to remain alert.

Tonight, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces are expected to remain generally cloudy, while the rest of the country will experience partly to generally cloudy weather. Rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely in several provinces, and snowfall is also possible in some high Himalayan regions.

The DHM has advised the public to exercise caution, particularly in areas where heavy rainfall may trigger floods, landslides, or other monsoon-related hazards.
