NATHM Opens Applications for Six Training Programs Including Trekking Guide and Culinary Arts Diploma

The Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM) has opened applications for six professional training programs aimed at producing skilled manpower for Nepal's tourism and hospitality industry.

Applications have been invited for Trekking Guide, Trekking Porter Guide, Basic Food Preparation (Cook), Bakery, Barista, and the one-year Diploma in Culinary Arts.

The five-week Trekking Guide training, which has the largest intake of 500 participants, is open to Plus Two graduates or SEE graduates with at least two years of experience at a registered trekking agency. Licensed Trekking Porter Guides with four years of work experience are also eligible. The application deadline is August 14 (Shrawan 29), while the training begins on August 24 (Bhadra 8).

Similarly, applications have been opened for the 15-day Trekking Porter Guide training, which has a quota of 110 participants. Applicants must have at least two years of experience as trekking porters and basic communication skills in one international language. The course will commence on August 26 (Bhadra 10).

In the hospitality category, NATHM has also invited applications for a three-month Basic Food Preparation (Cook) course with 40 seats, a one-month Bakery course with 40 seats, and a one-month Barista course with 20 seats. SEE graduates or equivalent are eligible for these programs, which will start on September 17 (Ashoj 1).

Applications for the one-year Diploma in Culinary Arts, which has 44 seats, will remain open until September 2 (Bhadra 17). Classes are scheduled to begin on September 28 (Ashoj 12).

Training fees have been set at Rs. 3,500 for Trekking Porter Guide, Rs. 10,000 for Trekking Guide, Rs. 30,000 for Basic Food Preparation (Cook), Rs. 24,000 each for Bakery and Barista, and Rs. 250,000 for the Diploma in Culinary Arts.

According to NATHM, a minimum of 10 applicants is required to conduct the Barista course, 20 applicants each for Cook and Bakery, and 22 applicants for the Diploma program.

Interested candidates must submit citizenship documents, academic certificates, relevant experience certificates (where applicable), and two passport-sized photographs. The application form fee is Rs. 1,000, and forms can be obtained from the NATHM office or downloaded from www.nathm.gov.np.
