NEA Invites Proposals from Service Providers to Simplify Electricity Bill Payments
Nepal Electricity Authority has called for proposals to expand digital electricity bill collection services.

Nepal Electricity Authority has invited proposals from interested service providers to make electricity bill collection more efficient and digitally accessible.
The authority is seeking firms capable of facilitating electronic payment systems. Applicants must submit valid company registration and renewal certificates, along with a payment service provider license issued by Nepal Rastra Bank, tax clearance certificates, and company statutes.
Additionally, service providers must declare legal eligibility, commit to providing bank guarantees, and ensure service availability even in remote areas. Data privacy and security of NEA’s revenue systems must also be guaranteed through reliable technology.
NEA has also set a service fee structure for customers. Payments up to Rs. 500 will be free of charge, while fees are capped at Rs. 5 for transactions between Rs. 501–5,000, Rs. 8 for Rs. 5,001–10,000, and Rs. 10 for amounts above Rs. 10,000.
Selected providers must maintain a minimum bank guarantee of Rs. 1 crore and cannot collect amounts exceeding the guaranteed limit daily. They are required to sign agreements within 15 days of approval.
The authority has also provisioned a dispute resolution committee to handle any conflicts between service providers and NEA.
