Nepal and Namibia have formally established diplomatic relations, bringing the number of countries with which Nepal has diplomatic ties to 187.
Nepal's Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal and Namibia's Minister of International Relations and Trade Selma Ashipala Musavyi signed a joint communiqué establishing diplomatic relations in New York while attending the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
Before the signing, the foreign ministers discussed various matters of mutual interest, according to Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They also discussed the human and physical losses caused by the recent climate-related disasters in Nepal.
Both ministers emphasized the need to explore new opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation between Nepal and Namibia. They also expressed the importance of advancing cooperation for the shared progress and prosperity of the two countries and their people.
