Nepal Army Begins Trial Production as Hetauda Textile Industry Revival Moves Forward

Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Krishna Bahadur Raut, has announced that the Nepal Army has begun trial production as part of the government's plan to revive the Hetauda Textile Industry.

Speaking at a press conference marking the government's first 100 days, Raut said the Cabinet granted theoretical approval for the industry's revival on Ashadh 18, 2083, and the Ministry of Finance has already released the required budget for the initiative.

He stated that the government is currently conducting Due Diligence Assessment (DDA) reports to evaluate the assets and liabilities of seven closed or financially distressed state-owned industries. The government will determine the operational model for these industries after reviewing the assessment reports.

Raut also informed that the Cabinet has approved the renewal of the expired licenses for the limestone mine and red clay mine of Udayapur Cement Industry Limited, ensuring continued access to essential raw materials for the factory.

The Hetauda Textile Industry, which was shut down following a Cabinet decision in 2013 (2069 BS), is now moving toward reopening through trial production. The government expects the revival to strengthen domestic manufacturing, create employment opportunities, and promote Nepal's industrial sector.
