Nepal Climbs Four Places in Henley Passport Index 2026, Ranks 97th Globally

Nepal has moved up four places in the Henley Passport Index 2026, improving its global ranking from 101st to 97th position.

According to the latest report, Nepal shares the 97th spot with North Korea, with both countries having a visa-free score of 35. This means passport holders from both nations can access 35 destinations without obtaining a visa in advance.

The index ranks passports based on the number of countries and territories their holders can enter without a prior visa.

At the top of the rankings is Singapore, whose citizens enjoy visa-free access to 192 destinations worldwide. The second position is jointly held by Japan, South Korea, and United Arab Emirates, while Sweden occupies third place.

The fourth position is shared by several European countries, including Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, and Switzerland.

Within South Asia, India ranked 78th, while China secured the 56th position. Pakistan ranked 100th, whereas Afghanistan remained at the bottom of the index.

The report also noted that the United States, which had fallen out of the top 10 rankings in 2025, has returned to the world's top 10 most powerful passports in 2026.
