Nepal Police has completed its preparations to minimize casualties and ensure effective rescue operations during the monsoon season. Police units from headquarters to local police posts have been placed on standby with the necessary manpower and rescue equipment.

Following the implementation of the National Monsoon Disaster Preparedness and Response Action Plan 2083 approved by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), Nepal Police has also launched its own Monsoon Disaster Preparedness and Response Plan 2083.

According to Central Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General Abhi Narayan Kafle, coordination has been strengthened with relevant government agencies to ensure efficient rescue operations and emergency response during disasters.

Police have identified high-risk monsoon disaster zones and safe evacuation areas across districts. Rescue equipment has been inspected and maintained, while police units down to the local post level remain ready for immediate deployment.

For rapid emergency response, two platoons have been stationed at the Disaster Response and Training Center, while one rescue platoon has been deployed at each Provincial Police Disaster Management Battalion with full rescue equipment available around the clock.

Nepal Police has also placed 10,085 police personnel on standby for immediate deployment during monsoon-related emergencies. Depending on the severity of incidents, personnel will be mobilized either immediately or in phases.

The police have conducted joint monsoon rescue drills with other security agencies and organized community awareness programs to reduce the risk of loss of life and property. Specialized disaster response training has also been provided to police personnel.

In addition, staff from the Police Hospital, Provincial Police Hospitals, Information Technology Directorate, Transport Division, Women, Children and Senior Citizens Directorate, and Nepal Police Canine Office have also been kept on standby for emergency deployment.

Police stated that if rescue equipment becomes insufficient during major emergencies, additional resources will be arranged in coordination with local governments and partner organizations.
