Nepal Rastra Bank Cancels License of Pokhara-Based Central Exchange Counter
Nepal Rastra Bank has revoked the license of a Pokhara-based money changer following a voluntary request and regulatory approval.

Nepal Rastra Bank has officially cancelled the money changer license of Shree Central Exchange Counter Pvt. Ltd., based in Pokhara. The decision was announced through a public notice issued by the bank’s Pokhara office on Jestha 6, 2083.
According to the central bank, the company itself had requested the cancellation of its license after deciding to discontinue its foreign currency exchange operations. Following this request, the Nepal Rastra Bank processed the application through the required legal and regulatory procedures.
The cancellation was carried out under Regulation 22 of the Money Changer Licensing and Inspection Regulations, 2077 (including the fourth amendment), which allows such actions based on voluntary requests from licensed institutions.
With this decision, the company is no longer authorized to conduct any foreign exchange transactions in Nepal. While the move reflects a routine regulatory procedure, it also indicates a structural exit of the firm from the licensed money changer segment in Pokhara’s local financial services market.
