Nepal Rastra Bank Raises Digital Wallet Loading Limit Fivefold for Dashain, Tihar and Chhath
Nepal Rastra Bank has increased the daily digital wallet loading limit from 10 to 50 transactions during designated festive periods to make digital payments easier.

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has increased the number of times individuals can load money into digital wallets to facilitate payments during Dashain, Tihar and Chhath. Under the revised arrangement, individuals can load money into their wallets up to 50 times a day, compared with the previous limit of 10 times.
Easier Digital Payments During Festivals
Digital transactions typically support festive shopping, sending monetary gifts and paying for various services. The central bank introduced the temporary relaxation to make wallet transactions more convenient during the busy festive season.
Special Provision Applies During Two Periods
According to NRB, the special arrangement will remain in effect from Ashoj 31 to Kartik 8 and from Kartik 21 to Kartik 29. During these periods, individuals will be permitted to load money into their wallets up to 50 times daily, subject to the applicable rules.
NRB Encourages Digital Transactions
The central bank, which has been promoting digital payments to reduce cash transactions, has urged the public to use digital channels for monetary gifts and other payments during Dashain, Tihar and Chhath. The increased loading frequency is intended to make digital payments more convenient during the festive periods.
