Nepal Reopens Labor Permits for Israel and Three Other Countries

The Government of Nepal has reopened labor permits for four countries—Israel, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Lebanon—following a temporary suspension triggered by regional tensions.

According to the Department of Foreign Employment Nepal, the decision was made based on a ministerial directive issued on Chaitra 31, 2082, by the Ministry of Labour Employment and Social Security Nepal.

Labor approvals had previously been halted due to escalating conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, which raised safety concerns for Nepali workers in the region.

While approvals for Iraq will continue under an earlier decision dated Poush 11, 2082, the government had initially suspended labor migration to multiple West Asian and Gulf countries on Falgun 17, 2082.

Earlier, on Chaitra 3, labor permits were resumed for countries including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Yemen, Jordan, and Turkey. The latest decision now extends the reopening to the remaining countries.

The move follows recommendations from the Emergency Response Team (ERT) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nepal. Authorities stated that further decisions will depend on the evolving security situation in these countries.
