Nepal will compete in tennis and athletics events today at the 20th Asian Games currently being held in Japan. In tennis, Nepal will participate in women’s doubles and men’s singles, while Santosh Shrestha and Purnalakshmi Neupane will compete in the women’s 5,000-meter final in athletics.

In the first round of women’s doubles, the Nepali pair of Shivali Gurung and Swastika Bista will face Japan’s Momoko Kobori and Ayano Shimizu. Both Shivali and Swastika had previously been eliminated in the first round of the women’s singles event. Shivali lost to South Korea’s Baek Dayeon 6–1, 6–0, while Swastika was defeated by Japan’s Moyuka Uchijima 6–1, 6–1.

Shivali’s mixed doubles partnership also failed to advance to the second round.

In the second round of the men’s singles event, Nepal’s Abhishek Bastola will face Kazakhstan’s Alexander Shevchenko. Bastola and Pradip Khadka had advanced to the second round of the men’s doubles after winning their opening-round match.

Nepal continues its participation in the Asian Games through tennis and athletics, with several Nepali athletes competing across different events.
