Nepal Welcomes Over 91,000 Foreign Tourists in June, Up 19.5% Year-on-Year
Nepal recorded 91,363 foreign tourist arrivals by air in June 2026, marking a 19.5% increase compared to the same month last year, according to the Nepal Tourism Board.

Nepal welcomed 91,363 foreign tourists by air in June 2026, representing a 19.5% increase compared to the 76,425 arrivals recorded during the same month last year, according to data released by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) based on the Department of Immigration.
The latest figure also surpassed the pre-pandemic level of 74,883 tourist arrivals recorded in June 2019, reflecting a 22.01% increase over that period.
Among the total visitors, SAARC countries contributed the largest share with 48,254 arrivals, accounting for 52.8% of all tourists. India remained Nepal's biggest source market with 41,809 visitors.
From other Asian countries, 16,152 tourists visited Nepal, representing 17.68% of total arrivals. This included 9,995 visitors from China, 925 from Japan, 914 from South Korea, and 514 from Thailand.
Europe contributed 6,954 visitors, including 2,500 from the United Kingdom, 557 from Germany, and 502 from France.
The United States remained another key source market with 11,836 visitors, accounting for 12.95% of total arrivals. During the same period, 1,011 tourists from Canada and 104 from Brazil also visited Nepal.
From the Oceania region, 3,090 tourists arrived in Nepal, marking growth of 56.35% compared to last year and 57.17% compared to 2019. Australia accounted for 2,896 arrivals, while 194 tourists came from New Zealand. Additionally, Nepal received 292 visitors from Africa and 674 from the Middle East.
According to Santosh Bikram Thapa, Senior Officer at the Nepal Tourism Board, the steady rise in tourist arrivals is driven by improved international air connectivity, stronger tourism promotion campaigns, increased marketing in key source markets, and Nepal's growing reputation as a safe and attractive travel destination.
The Nepal Tourism Board also announced plans to intensify promotional activities in major markets, including India, China, the United States, and Europe, ahead of the upcoming tourism season.
