The government has projected the size of Nepal’s economy to reach Rs. 66 trillion during the current fiscal year 2082/83.
Presenting the Economic Survey, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle stated that the country’s per capita gross national income is expected to reach USD 1,535.
According to the survey, the agriculture sector is estimated to contribute 24 percent to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), while the non-agriculture sector is projected to account for 76 percent.
Among the provinces, Bagmati Province is expected to contribute the largest share to the national economy. The survey indicates that the influence of non-agriculture sectors such as services, industry, and infrastructure continues to expand steadily.
The government has also projected Nepal’s economic growth rate at 3.85 percent for the current fiscal year. The expected expansion is attributed to gradual improvement in economic activities, recovery in tourism, growth in remittance inflows, and stronger domestic demand.
The government stated that it aims to achieve sustainable economic growth in the coming years by increasing production, employment opportunities, and private sector investment.
