NEPSE Continues Downward Trend, Index Falls by 25.81 Points to Close at 2744

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed another day of decline on Wednesday, continuing its recent bearish trend in the market.

The benchmark NEPSE index fell by 25.81 points to close at 2744.45. Similarly, the sensitive index dropped by 3.06 points, while the float index and sensitive float index declined by 1.74 and 1.09 points respectively.

Along with the index, total trading turnover also decreased. A total of 12.1 million shares of 269 companies were traded, amounting to Rs 4.95 billion. This is lower compared to Tuesday’s turnover of Rs 6.53 billion.

Among the traded stocks, Corporate Development Bank recorded the highest gain of 13.81 percent. Nepal Life Samriddhi Investment Scheme units rose by 3.87 percent. On the losing side, the 10% KBL Debenture 2090 dropped the most by 11.46 percent, followed by Shikhar Power Development Company, which declined by 9.92 percent.

In terms of turnover, Reliance Spinning Mills led the market with transactions worth Rs 241.9 million, followed by Palpa Cements with Rs 202.2 million.

Out of 13 sector indices, only 3 sectors closed in positive territory while 10 sectors declined. The trading sector gained 1.09 percent, while development banks and mutual funds saw slight increases. The manufacturing and processing sector recorded the highest loss, while non-life insurance, hotels, and hydropower sectors dropped by more than 1 percent.
