NEPSE Extends Losing Streak to Third Straight Session; Turnover Shrinks to Rs 4.02 Billion

Nepal's stock market remained under pressure for the third consecutive trading day on Wednesday, with the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index falling 7.79 points to close at 2,688.88.

The Sensitive Index, which tracks the performance of Class 'A' companies, also declined during the session.

A total of 343 listed companies traded 9.78 million shares through 48,626 transactions, generating a total turnover of Rs 4.02 billion. Daily turnover declined by around 9% compared to Tuesday's trading session.

Among the traded companies, 78 stocks advanced, 186 declined, and 11 remained unchanged.

Sector-wise, only the Mutual Fund and Others indices closed higher. All other major sectors—including Commercial Banks, Development Banks, Hotels & Tourism, Hydropower, Investment, Life Insurance, Manufacturing & Processing, Microfinance, Non-Life Insurance, and Trading—ended in negative territory.

The Microfinance Index recorded the steepest decline, falling 0.60%.

Among individual stocks, Everest Color Limited, Snow Rivers Limited, Nabil Balanced Fund, Khanikhola Hydropower, and Himalayan Power Partner emerged as the top gainers.

On the losing side, Garima Samriddhi Yojana, Civil Bank Debenture, Matribhumi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha, Corporate Development Bank, and Shubham Power Limited recorded the biggest declines.

In terms of turnover, Himalayan Power Partner Limited topped the market with shares worth Rs 224.84 million traded during the session.

By trading volume, Khanikhola Hydropower ranked first, with 720,327 shares changing hands.
