NEPSE Falls Despite Positive Mutual Fund Sector, Turnover Drops 18%

Nepal's secondary market witnessed a broad-based decline on Thursday, with the NEPSE Index falling by 13.46 points to close at 2,766.78.

A total of 353 listed companies were traded during the session. Share prices of 57 companies advanced, while 204 companies recorded losses, reflecting a predominantly bearish market sentiment.

The market recorded a turnover of Rs 4.69 billion from the trading of more than 10.59 million shares. Compared to Wednesday's session, total trading value declined by approximately 18 percent.

Among the sectoral indices, only the Mutual Fund sub-index closed in positive territory. All other sectors ended lower, with the Trading sector suffering the largest decline of 1.71 percent.

Investors booked the highest gains in shares of Kalinchok Darshan Limited, Nyadi Hydropower Limited, and debentures of Nepal SBI Bank.

On the losing side, holders of SBL Debenture, Vijaya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha, and Bagmati Hydropower Development Company experienced the steepest declines.

The latest session indicates that investors remained cautious despite healthy market activity, leading to a decline in both the benchmark index and overall turnover.
