NEPSE Gains 2.57 Points Despite Lower Trading Volume

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index posted a modest gain of 2.57 points on Wednesday, closing at 2,736.17. While the market ended in positive territory, overall trading activity declined compared to the previous session.

A total of 9.28 million shares of 356 listed companies were traded, generating a turnover of Rs. 4.29 billion. Trading volume fell by approximately 33 percent from Tuesday's turnover.

Among the traded companies, share prices of 127 companies increased, while 134 companies recorded losses. The remaining stocks closed unchanged.

Sector-wise, Commercial Banks, Development Banks, Finance, Hotels and Tourism, Hydropower, Manufacturing and Processing, and Mutual Funds ended the day in positive territory. On the other hand, Investment, Life Insurance, Microfinance, Non-Life Insurance, Trading, and Other sectors closed lower.

Kalinchowk Hydropower Limited, Sopan Pharmaceuticals Limited, and Apollo Hydropower Limited emerged as the top gainers of the day. Meanwhile, investors in Prabhu Bank Debenture, Upakar Laghubitta Financial Institution, and Upper Lohore Khola Hydropower Company recorded the highest losses.

Despite the modest recovery in the benchmark index, investors remain cautious as they closely monitor market trends and upcoming policy developments.
