NEPSE Rises 11.77 Points to 2,629.81, Turnover Declines
The NEPSE index gained 11.77 points on Thursday to close at 2,629.81, while total turnover declined to Rs. 5.44 billion from Rs. 6.16 billion on the previous trading day.
Nepal's stock market recorded a double-digit gain on Thursday, with the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rising 11.77 points to close at 2,629.81.
On the previous trading day, Wednesday, the NEPSE index had declined by 36.25 points to 2,618.03. Thursday's gain recovered part of the previous session's decline.
Total turnover stood at Rs. 5.44 billion on Thursday, down from Rs. 6.16 billion recorded on Wednesday. Thus, while the benchmark index increased, overall trading turnover declined compared with the previous session.
Of the companies traded on Thursday, share prices of 176 companies increased, while 95 companies recorded declines. Share prices of seven companies remained unchanged.
The number of companies posting gains was higher than those posting declines, although overall market turnover contracted during the session.
