NEPSE Slips Marginally Despite Higher Turnover on First Trading Day of the Week

Nepal's stock market ended slightly lower on the first trading day of the week as the NEPSE Index declined by 1.20 points to close at 2,684.33.

Despite the marginal decline in the benchmark index, market activity improved. A total of 11.44 million shares of 349 listed companies were traded through 63,648 transactions, generating a turnover of Rs. 4.57 billion, compared to Rs. 3.75 billion in the previous session.

The Sensitive Index gained 0.49 points, while both the Float Index and Sensitive Float Index also posted modest gains.

Everest Color Limited once again hit the positive circuit, with its share price rising by Rs. 196.30 to close at Rs. 1,505.60. Shares of Saptakoshi Development Bank gained more than 11%, while Mahuli Laghubitta advanced by over 7%.

On the losing side, Reliance Spinning Mills recorded the largest decline of the day, falling 7.40%.

In terms of turnover, Reliance Spinning Mills topped the market with transactions worth Rs. 276.2 million, followed by Ridi Power with nearly Rs. 210 million and Global IME Bank with more than Rs. 190 million in traded value.

Sector-wise, 8 out of 13 sub-indices closed higher, including Banking, Development Bank, Hotels & Tourism, Hydropower, Life Insurance, Microfinance, Mutual Funds, and Non-Life Insurance, while the remaining five sectors ended in the red.
