Nepal Rastra Bank has put the new Series 2025 Rs. 1,000 banknote into circulation from Ashoj 8. The new note retains the existing size but features a revised color scheme, with a light green appearance enclosed within a purple-colored border.

The new banknote carries serial numbers ranging from 92 000001 to 99 999999. The front side contains the payment guarantee statement of Nepal Rastra Bank.

The left side features Mount Everest, while a rhododendron watermark is placed on the right. The watermark also includes the number ‘1000’. A blue See Through Register displaying part of ‘1000’ becomes fully visible when viewed against light.

For easier identification by visually impaired people through touch, the Roman letter ‘M’, representing one thousand, has been placed on the lower-right portion of the note. Ten horizontal lines have also been placed on both sides of the main security features.

An image of Bhagwati appears inside an oval shape on the front of the note. It appears golden when viewed directly and green when tilted.

The note also includes a 3.5-millimeter-wide moving security thread containing ‘NRB’ and ‘1000’. The thread appears red when viewed directly and green when tilted. The note bears the signature of Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Prof. Dr. Bishwanath Poudel.

The reverse side features images of Ram and Laxman, rare twin elephants born to an elephant named Devkali at the government elephant center in Chitwan. The words ‘NEPAL RASTRA BANK’ appear above the image.

Seven rhododendron images representing Nepal’s seven provinces are featured on the reverse side. The note also carries the text ‘RUPEES ONE THOUSAND’ and an image of the historically significant pillar located at Lhonchok in Hanuman Dhoka.

According to Nepal Rastra Bank, the previous Series 2019 Rs. 1,000 banknotes were introduced with a wider range of serial numbers, but not all of those numbers were put into circulation. Therefore, the new Series 2025 banknotes begin with serial number 92 000001.
