The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought clarification from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) over allegations that party memberships were distributed to individuals below the age of 18.

According to the commission, concerns have been raised regarding the involvement of minors in political party membership, prompting the NHRC to seek an official explanation from the party.

The commission has asked RSP to clarify whether memberships were issued to children under 18 and explain the legal basis and procedures followed during the membership distribution process.

The NHRC emphasized that the protection of children's rights is guaranteed under Nepal's Constitution and various national and international legal frameworks, and political activities involving minors must comply with these provisions.

The commission stated that it will review the party's response before determining any further course of action regarding the matter.
