No Customs Duty on Goods Worth Up to Rs 500 Brought from Borders

The government has introduced a new customs facility for small-value goods brought through border checkpoints for personal use. Under the revised rule, goods valued up to Rs 500 will no longer be subject to customs duty.

Previously, this exemption limit was Rs 100, which has now been increased to Rs 500.

According to the notice, travelers crossing the border by land are generally not eligible for special customs facilities. However, small personal-use items worth up to Rs 500 may be cleared without duty at the discretion of the customs officer.

The policy is expected to ease travel and simplify border transactions for ordinary passengers.
