No Decision Taken on Evicting Squatter Settlements in Cabinet Meeting: Government Spokesperson Pokharel

The government has clarified that no decision has been made regarding the removal of encroached squatter settlements.
After today’s Cabinet meeting, Minister of Education and government spokesperson Sasmita Pokharel stated that there was no decision taken to evict squatter settlements. According to him, the issue was discussed in the meeting, but no formal conclusion was reached.
Earlier, there were reports suggesting that Prime Minister Balen Shah had directed the removal of encroached settlements along riverbanks in Kathmandu and other major cities. However, spokesperson Pokharel clarified that the Cabinet has not made any official decision on the matter.
The government further stated that discussions have taken place, but no implementation-level decision has been finalized
