Now at least 10% of students in university constituent campuses will receive full scholarships
The government has introduced a provision to ensure full scholarships for at least 10% of students in constituent campuses of universities across Nepal.

The government has moved forward with a policy to ensure that at least 10% of students studying in constituent campuses of universities across Nepal receive full scholarships. The new provision is aimed at improving equal access to higher education by supporting meritorious, economically disadvantaged, and targeted groups.
Several universities, including Tribhuvan University, Purbanchal University, Rajarshi Janak University, Agriculture and Forestry University, Pokhara University, and Sudurpaschim University, have issued notices directing their constituent campuses to reserve 10% of approved seats for scholarship purposes.
Under the new arrangement, eligible students will be selected based on scholarship guidelines of the respective universities and campuses. The reserved seats will prioritize students from disadvantaged backgrounds, financially weaker communities, and deserving categories.
Education and Sports Minister Sasmita Pokharel said the mandatory scholarship provision represents an important step toward ensuring educational access, equal opportunities, and social justice in Nepal’s higher education sector.
According to the minister, the government is expanding the scholarship model implemented in school education to universities as well. The initiative is expected to help students who face financial barriers continue their higher education.
Earlier, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology had instructed local governments to monitor whether educational institutions were providing the legally required 10% scholarship quota. The ministry also requested coordination and facilitation to ensure proper implementation of scholarship provisions in both private and public educational institutions.
