NRB Removes Transaction Limits for Disaster Relief Fund Payments

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has removed the usual transaction limits for digital payments made to accounts linked to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund and the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.

The decision has been taken as financial support is being collected for people affected by the recent floods and landslides across Nepal.

According to a notice issued by NRB’s Payment Systems Department, payments to the designated relief fund accounts can be made through mobile banking, web applications and electronic wallets without the regular transaction limits.

NRB has instructed payment service providers and other authorized institutions to make the necessary arrangements to implement the provision.

The move is expected to make it easier and faster for individuals and organizations to send financial assistance to the designated government relief accounts during the ongoing disaster response.

By removing transaction restrictions, the central bank aims to facilitate the flow of financial contributions toward flood and landslide relief efforts, allowing donors to transfer larger amounts through digital payment channels without being constrained by standard limits.

The decision comes as government agencies and other organizations continue mobilizing resources for communities affected by the disasters.
