Online Bus Ticketing Introduced for Eastern Nepal Routes from Kathmandu
Passengers traveling from Kathmandu to destinations across eastern Nepal can now book bus tickets online.

Travelers heading from Kathmandu to eastern Nepal can now purchase bus tickets online as part of efforts to modernize public transportation services and improve passenger convenience.
The initiative has been implemented by Purba Transport Management Pvt. Ltd., which operates public transportation services from Kathmandu’s New Bus Park to multiple destinations across eastern Nepal.
According to company chairman Rajan Rokka, GPS tracking systems and CCTV cameras have been installed in all 81 public vehicles operating under the company. The move comes as the government prepares to make GPS and CCTV systems mandatory for public transportation nationwide.
Public transport services running from Kathmandu to destinations including Tehrathum, Taplejung, Khandbari, Kakarbhitta, Bhadrapur, Dharan, Biratnagar, Madhumalla, Gauriganj, Baniyani, Gaighat, Ilam, Pashupatinagar, Katari, Janakpur, Rajbiraj, and Birgunj are now equipped with the new monitoring technology.
The company has been operating under a unified management structure since Shrawan 2080, bringing together buses serving eastern routes under a single organization to improve service quality and operational efficiency.
Company director Rajendra Bahadur Thapa said the transport company has actively implemented the government's transport modernization agenda. He added that a luggage-tagging system will also be introduced soon to enhance baggage management and passenger security.
In addition to GPS tracking and CCTV surveillance, the newly launched online ticketing system is expected to make travel planning easier for passengers by allowing them to reserve seats remotely without visiting ticket counters.
Transport operators believe the technology-driven upgrades will improve safety, accountability, and service reliability for thousands of passengers traveling between Kathmandu and eastern Nepal every day.
