Opposition Parties Call Emergency Meeting Over PM’s Controversial Statement
Opposition parties are holding an emergency meeting today to discuss Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s recent remarks in Parliament regarding border-related issues with India, which have triggered political controversy ahead of parliamentary sessions.

Opposition parties are set to hold an emergency meeting today to discuss recent remarks made by Prime Minister Balendra Shah during a session of the House of Representatives, which have sparked political debate and concern.
Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Bishmaraj Angdemba has called the meeting at 12:00 PM at the Nepali Congress parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar.
According to his secretariat, the discussion will focus on the situation that emerged after the Prime Minister reportedly stated in Parliament on Sunday that “Nepal has also encroached on Indian territory,” a remark that has triggered political reactions and controversy across party lines.
The opposition meeting has invited leaders from major political parties, including the Nepal Communist Party (UML), Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre), Shrama Sanskriti Party, and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), for a joint discussion on the issue.
The consultation is being held ahead of today’s parliamentary schedule, with a meeting of the House of Representatives set for 1:00 PM and the National Assembly scheduled to convene at 1:15 PM.
Opposition leaders are expected to formulate a coordinated stance regarding the Prime Minister’s statement before the parliamentary sessions begin.
The development indicates rising political tension in the federal parliament, with parties preparing for a potentially heated debate in today’s proceedings.
