Over 53,500 Individuals and Entities Blacklisted by Nepal’s Credit Information Center in FY 2081/82

Kathmandu, Aug. 12, 2025 — Nepal’s Credit Information Center (CIC) placed 53,571 individuals and entities on its blacklist during fiscal year 2081/82, marking a 2.42% increase from the 52,303 recorded a year earlier, according to CIC spokesperson Vijay Kunwar.

While the pace of additions slowed compared to previous years, the long-term trend remains sharply upward. Over the past five years, the blacklist has expanded by 722.39% — from 6,514 in FY 2077/78 to 15,995 in 2078/79, 34,081 in 2079/80, 52,303 in 2080/81, and 53,571 in 2081/82.

Kunwar noted that the list includes not only borrowers but also guarantors. In the case of institutional loans, shareholders with more than 15% ownership, directors, and property valuers can also be blacklisted. However, the count reflects unique borrowers, avoiding duplication across categories.
