Power Supply Restored in Flood-Hit Areas of Nuwakot

The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has restored electricity supply in several flood-affected areas of Nuwakot after flooding in the Bhotekoshi River disrupted the regular power supply.

Areas including Kharanitar, Samundratar, Chaugada, Likhu, Panchakanya and Bidur are now receiving electricity through an alternative supply route from Sindhupalchok, according to the authority.

The alternative arrangement has allowed NEA to restore power to several communities while the authority continues repair work on electricity infrastructure damaged by the flood.

NEA is also working to restore additional power lines serving the affected areas and aims to bring them into operation by this evening. The authority said some parts of the Trishuli area are currently receiving electricity through the Salayantar Substation in Dhading.

Technical teams, equipment and other resources have been mobilized from Kathmandu and surrounding areas to inspect the damaged infrastructure and carry out necessary repair works.

The teams are assessing affected transmission and distribution infrastructure and working to restore the normal electricity supply in areas where the regular network remains disrupted.

The restoration efforts follow instructions from Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha to accelerate rescue efforts for employees who remain affected or unreachable following the flooding.

The minister has also directed the authority to take immediate measures to restore electricity services in the flood-hit areas.

NEA said its technical teams will continue working on the damaged power infrastructure and restoring remaining electricity lines as quickly as possible.
