CPN-UML lawmaker Dr. Pushpa Raj Kandel has demanded that the government immediately disclose details of the funds collected under the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund and Relief Fund, along with how the money has been spent.

Speaking at Tuesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Kandel raised concerns over transparency in the financial resources mobilized for disaster management. He said Parliament should be informed about the total amount collected in the funds and the sectors in which the money has been spent.

Kandel also called for a clear accounting of the funds allocated to local governments, provincial governments and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, including details of their utilization and effectiveness.

He argued that transparent accounting of funds collected during disasters is important for maintaining public trust in the government.
