Rain and Thunderstorms Likely Across Several Parts of Nepal

Several parts of Nepal are likely to experience rainfall today under the influence of a western low-pressure trough in the upper atmosphere and local wind systems, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The weather office reported that most hilly and mountainous regions, including Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces, are currently experiencing generally cloudy conditions, while the Terai region remains partly cloudy. Light rainfall has already been recorded in some areas of Lumbini Province as well as isolated locations in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.

During the daytime, weather conditions are expected to remain generally cloudy across the hilly and mountainous regions of the country, particularly in Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces. Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in several locations of Koshi and Madhesh provinces, as well as parts of the country's hilly and mountainous areas.

Rainfall is also possible in a few Terai districts of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces. Similar weather conditions are expected to continue during the night, with chances of thunderstorms and moderate rainfall in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

The department has also indicated the possibility of light snowfall in some high Himalayan regions. Authorities have urged the public to remain alert, as rainfall, thunderstorms, and snowfall could affect daily activities, agriculture, road transportation, and air travel in various parts of the country
