RSP Convention Fills Chitwan Hotels, Boosts Local Tourism Business
The first national convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has created an unexpected tourism .

Hotels in Chitwan are experiencing an unusual surge in business due to the first national convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). Traditionally, the period between June and August is considered an off-season for tourism in Sauraha, with many hotels reducing operations and granting leave to staff.
This year, however, the convention has brought thousands of visitors to the district, significantly increasing demand for accommodation and hospitality services. Delegates, party leaders, supporters, observers, and journalists from across the country have traveled to Chitwan to attend the three-day event.
According to organizers, the convention has attracted 4,211 official delegates, while the total number of visitors associated with the event is estimated to be around 10,000. As a result, hotels in Sauraha, Bharatpur, and nearby Gaindakot have reported occupancy rates exceeding 80 percent, far above normal off-season levels.
Hotel operators and tourism entrepreneurs say the event has provided a much-needed boost to local businesses, benefiting hotels, restaurants, and other tourism-related services. The convention has also contributed positively to the local economy by increasing visitor spending during a typically slow period.
