RSP's Newly Elected Central Committee Members and Office Bearers Take Oath Today

The newly elected central committee members and office bearers of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) are scheduled to take their oath of office today at the party's central office in Chahmati, Kathmandu.

According to the party, 99 central committee members and seven office bearers elected during last Friday's general convention will officially assume their responsibilities after taking the oath.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, the newly elected central committee will hold its first meeting to begin the nomination process for the remaining office bearers and central committee members.

As per the party's constitution, the 158-member central committee consists of 99 elected members, while the remaining members will be nominated by the party chair.

Similarly, of the party's 19 office bearer positions, seven, including the chairperson, have already been elected, while the remaining positions will be filled through nomination.

Ahead of the general convention, the RSP amended its party statute to increase the number of nominated office bearers and central committee members. The amendment was introduced to accommodate leaders from Prime Minister Balen Shah's group and former leaders from the Bibeksheel Sajha Party who joined the party.

The party concluded that it would be difficult to ensure adequate representation for the newly integrated groups through direct elections alone. As a result, around 12 additional leadership positions, including senior leader, vice chairperson, general secretary and joint general secretary, were created to facilitate their inclusion in the party's leadership.
