SEBON to Unveil Capital Market Roadmap Today After Final Discussion with Finance Minister
The Securities Board of Nepal is set to unveil its capital market roadmap, covering reforms in equity markets, bonds, derivatives, foreign investment, digital systems, and regulatory modernization.

The Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) is preparing to unveil its capital market roadmap today after completing the final discussion with the Finance Minister. SEBON Chairman Dr. Gopal Prasad Bhatt has said that the blueprint aimed at expanding and reforming Nepal’s capital market has been finalized and will be made public after briefing the Finance Ministry.
According to Chairman Bhatt, the roadmap will include comprehensive plans to strengthen various segments of the capital market, including equity markets, corporate bonds, government securities, municipal bonds, derivatives, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), private equity, venture capital, SME platforms, and investment from foreign and non-resident Nepali (NRN) investors.
The roadmap will also focus on improving the NEPSE index system, reviewing IPO/FPO and promoter share lock-in periods, expanding broker-based margin lending, introducing short selling and intraday trading, strengthening margin trading facilities, developing commodity markets, and introducing new financial instruments.
Additionally, SEBON’s plan includes strengthening AML/CFT systems, ensuring equal opportunities for investors, modernizing regulatory frameworks, expanding online services, digitizing auction processes, and upgrading the board’s information technology infrastructure.
