Seti Khola Hydropower Begins Test Generation, Prepares for IPO Launch

The 22 MW Seti Khola Hydropower Project, developed by Seti Khola Hydropower Limited in Pokhara Metropolitan City–33, Kaski, has officially commenced trial electricity generation. Following technical inspection and approval by the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), electricity from the project is now being supplied to the national transmission grid on a test basis.

Construction of the project began in December 2021 (Mangsir 2078 BS). According to the company, the initial testing phase will continue for approximately 15 days, during which the plant's generating units and associated equipment will undergo comprehensive technical evaluation before entering full commercial operation.

The project had originally targeted electricity generation by last Mangsir, but delays in obtaining forest clearance for transmission line construction postponed the commissioning. Three of the five transmission towers required for the project were located within forest areas, resulting in extended approval procedures.

The dam has been constructed at Tiklang in Pokhara-33, with water conveyed through a 3,106-meter tunnel to the powerhouse at Lower Punditar. The powerhouse houses two turbines, each with an installed capacity of 11 MW.

Built at an estimated cost of Rs. 5.05 billion, the project is expected to enter commercial operation after successful completion of the testing period. The company has also announced plans to issue an Initial Public Offering (IPO) to the general public within the upcoming fiscal year.
