Starlink has expressed readiness to provide free satellite internet services in flood-affected areas of Nepal, offering communication support as rescue and relief operations continue in areas where roads, bridges and traditional communication networks have been damaged.

The satellite internet company said it is prepared to support the Government of Nepal and humanitarian organizations by providing Starlink equipment and free internet services once the necessary approval is received.

Starlink shared its offer through X, expressing concern over the devastating floods and stating that it was ready to deploy equipment to support humanitarian operations.

Satellite-based communication could be particularly useful in areas where mobile networks and other traditional communication infrastructure have been disrupted by floods and landslides.

The proposed service could support rescue teams coordinating searches for missing people, medical personnel treating injured victims and families trying to contact relatives in affected areas.

Starlink terminals are designed to be deployed quickly and can provide internet connectivity using a power source and a clear view of the sky, making the technology potentially useful in remote disaster-hit locations where conventional infrastructure is unavailable.

The offer comes as Nepal continues rescue, relief and recovery efforts following the severe floods and landslides that have affected multiple districts.
