Stock Market to Open on Fridays as NEPSE Revises Trading Schedule

In line with the government’s new public holiday policy, Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has introduced a major change in its trading calendar. The stock market will now remain open from Monday to Friday, replacing Sunday trading with Friday sessions.

According to the decision made by NEPSE’s Board of Directors, the market will remain closed on Sundays, while regular trading will continue from Monday through Friday. This ensures investors continue to have access to a full five-day trading week.

NEPSE officials stated that trading will still take place this Friday, while Sunday trading will be discontinued from the following week as the new schedule comes fully into effect.

The government implemented the two-day weekend policy starting Chaitra 23 with the aim of reducing fuel consumption across the country, which prompted this adjustment in the stock market schedule.

Previously, in 2079 B.S., NEPSE had also adjusted its trading days when Sunday was declared a public holiday. With the latest revision, the market returns to a consistent five-day trading structure.

Market analysts believe that this move will enhance liquidity, increase investor participation, and contribute to a more efficient and structured capital market environment.
