Two Election Amendment Bills Presented in House of Representatives to Replace Ordinances

Two significant election-related amendment bills have been presented in the House of Representatives, aiming to replace ordinances issued for the previous electoral process.

On behalf of Prime Minister Balen Shah, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam introduced the ‘House of Representatives Election (First Amendment) Bill, 2083’ and the ‘Voter Registration (First Amendment) Bill, 2083’.

These bills are intended to replace earlier ordinances related to the electoral process. A proposal seeking permission to present the bills was passed by a majority vote in the House, allowing the legislative process to move forward.

Lawmakers expressed expectations that the amendments will help make Nepal’s electoral system more transparent, updated, and inclusive. The next meeting of the House of Representatives is scheduled for Thursday, Jestha 7, at 11:00 AM.
