CPN-UML has announced at least Rs1.2 crore in financial support for the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of people affected by the recent floods, landslides and inundation in Rasuwa.

Party Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli made the announcement at a programme held at the party’s central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur, on Monday.

The party’s Bagmati Province Committee and Kathmandu Valley Special Province Committee each contributed Rs10 lakh, bringing the initial contribution to Rs20 lakh.

Oli said the party would mobilise additional resources from the central level and raise at least Rs1.2 crore to support disaster response and relief efforts in Rasuwa.

The UML chairman said the party would explore ways to deliver assistance directly and quickly to affected families, rather than simply transferring funds to government accounts. He stressed that relief should reach genuine disaster victims without being delayed by administrative procedures.

The party has also called for relief and rehabilitation activities in the affected areas to be accelerated, as communities continue to deal with the impact of floods and landslides.

The announcement comes amid wider relief efforts in Rasuwa, where recent disasters have caused significant damage to communities and infrastructure. Government agencies, security forces, private organisations, political parties and volunteers have been involved in rescue and relief operations.
