Upper Trishuli–3 ‘B’ Hydropower Project Completely Damaged, Condition of Most Employees Still Unknown
A severe flood in the Bhotekoshi River has completely damaged the 37 MW Upper Trishuli–3 ‘B’ hydropower project under construction in Nuwakot.
A devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River, which enters Nepal through Rasuwagadhi from Tibet, has completely damaged the 37 MW Upper Trishuli–3 ‘B’ Hydropower Project under construction in Nuwakot.
Trishuli Jal Vidyut Company Limited has informed the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON), Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), and CDS and Clearing Limited about the damage caused to the project.
According to the company, a sudden and severe flood in the Bhotekoshi River on Bhadra 10, 2083 BS caused extensive destruction to the structures of the project located at Sirupani, Kispang Rural Municipality–5, Nuwakot.
The company stated that the project structures have been completely damaged due to the intensity of the flood. The condition of most employees working at the project site also remains unknown.
The incident is expected to require a detailed assessment of the damage to the project's physical infrastructure and construction works. Further information regarding the condition of employees, the extent of financial losses and the project's future will depend on assessments by the company and relevant authorities.
