The US Embassy in Nepal has handed over advanced digital forensics software, hardware, and specialized equipment to the Nepal Police Digital Forensics Laboratory to strengthen its capacity in investigating cyber-enabled crimes.

The equipment was officially handed over by US Chargé d’Affaires Scott Urbom to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dhan Bahadur Karki during a ceremony attended by senior officials.

Speaking at the event, IGP Karki expressed gratitude to the US Embassy for its continued support in enhancing the capabilities of Nepal Police's Digital Forensics Lab. He stated that the assistance reflects the strong partnership, mutual trust, and shared commitment between Nepal and the United States.

Karki noted that the newly received equipment will significantly improve the laboratory's ability to collect, preserve, and analyze digital evidence, making investigations into cybercrime and technology-related offenses more effective and reliable.

Chargé d’Affaires Scott Urbom said the advanced forensic tools would strengthen Nepal Police's digital forensic capabilities and play an important role in criminal investigations and evidence collection.
