The United States is intensifying efforts to increase economic pressure on Iran by coordinating with governments in several countries, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has said. According to Bessent, US representatives have been sent to different countries to discuss measures aimed at limiting economic ties with Iran.

Bessent said the diplomatic efforts were beginning to produce results. He cited restrictions involving Iranian airline Mahan Air in Turkey and Oman, as well as measures affecting Iranian airline operations in the United Arab Emirates.

Washington is also targeting Iran’s financial connections. The US Treasury has taken several measures against Iranian financial institutions and activities linked to sanctions evasion. Recent actions have also affected Iranian banking operations in Turkey.

Bessent said Iran’s currency has fallen to a record low and indicated that Washington would continue working with the United Kingdom, Turkey, Oman and the UAE to increase pressure on Tehran. These statements represent the US administration’s position regarding its economic pressure campaign.
