US-Iran Tensions Escalate as Both Sides Continue Military Strikes

Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated further as both countries continue military operations across the Middle East. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it had completed the third phase of its military campaign against Iran, targeting around 140 military sites.

According to CENTCOM, the strikes hit missile and drone launch sites, ammunition depots, communication systems, and other military infrastructure. The command also claimed that Iran had failed to comply with previous understandings following attacks on commercial vessels.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that a container ship caught fire after sustaining damage near the coast of Oman, highlighting growing concerns over maritime security in the region.

Iranian state media reported explosions in several southern cities and claimed that Iranian forces had launched a series of retaliatory strikes against US-linked targets across the Middle East, including attacks in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. Missile warning sirens were also reported in Bahrain.

Qatar's Ministry of Interior raised the national security alert level and advised residents to remain indoors, stay away from windows, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow official safety instructions.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) also claimed to have struck the command and control center and drone hangars at Jordan's Prince Hassan Air Base.

Iran has further announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz until further notice, warning that any retaliation against its actions would be met with a strong response. The continued exchange of attacks has increased fears of a wider regional conflict and potential disruptions to global energy supplies and international shipping.
