The United States is set to provide an additional Rs. 4.65 billion in financial assistance to Nepal. The assistance will be provided for the relief and rehabilitation of people affected by the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers on Bhadra 10.

Immediately after the floods, the United States had already provided Nepal with Rs. 750 million, along with essential relief materials and technical assistance. Speaking to reporters, U.S. State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said the U.S. government remains committed to providing additional financial and technical assistance to Nepal whenever needed.

The assistance will support the reconstruction of infrastructure damaged by the floods, as well as provide affected citizens with access to drinking water, sanitation, and other essential services. Part of the funding will also be used to purchase U.S.-made drones to support future disaster rescue and recovery efforts.

The U.S. State Department said it is working closely with the Government of Nepal to identify areas requiring additional assistance and provide support accordingly.

During a meeting in New York with Nepal's Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker announced the additional assistance. Hooker also expressed condolences to the families of the 70 American citizens who remain missing following the floods in Rasuwa, Nepal.
